Moving image on screen, loop
size: 17 x 25 cm
year: 2025

In "Augenblick" Katrin Korfmann freezes a moment that is normally elusive. A freerunner hovers in the air, caught in a leap that seems to defy time and gravity. His body blurs into a cloud-like backdrop, a visual intervention that stretches the boundary between individual and environment. This work, a slowly moving image on screen, plays with perception and undermines the classical notion of the 'decisive moment' in photography. Korfmann works at the intersection of still and moving images, so that the action is not only captured but also reinterpreted. The city here does not function as a background but as a dynamic playing field in which bodies temporarily leave imprints. "Augenblick" fits into her broader exploration of urban spaces and imagery. How do we relate to the structures that determine our movements? In an era where algorithms dictate what we see, Korfmann emphasises the value of looking and reconsidering.
