Pink Wall Temporary Installation

In this temporary installation a monochrome wall of 6 by 20 meters was erected on a classical Italian square in Turin. On a location laden with symbolism and history the wall forms a neutral surface, albeit with a colour which evokes all sorts of associations and which may seem strange in this particular place. Not necessarily recognizable as an art work, the wall forms an abstract object in public space, not yet occupied by evident meanings, yet contributing a new empty space which can be filled in by people passing by who may be inspired to pose in front of it, photograph each other and record the environment from a new perspective. The wall forms a screen against which, as is the practice at a photo studio, people appear as models disconnected from their context. This theatrical installation forms a research into the process of perception involved in making photographs for which we inevitably make choices in how we frame our surroundings. The artist here does not decide upon the moment or the perspective of the registration herself, but creates a situation in which this responsibility is given to the participant of the work.
